This is my last blog on our school days featuring our 10th grade memories which obviously was the one of the best ones we had till now and I am pretty much sure that it will remain the best year throughout our life. As always, a bit of recap, till now I flushed out all that was in my electric nerve impulses which were dying to reach out you guys which had all those moments till 9th grade. Of course those impulses were of my origin that means I wrote whatever I wanted to write and no doubt I miss what you guys want to express about all those days. We have discussed this all through our life but still it longs for it again and again. Leaving all those behind, We shall step into the last stage of our school life. The final step before we step into our teenage days I mean college days. The final step before we are left into this open world.
After two months of long holidays, we had to go back and start living this school life again. As always it took a few days to settle in. We had our own thoughts about the last year. Everyone was sad since this was the last year and was kind of worried or concerned about the board exams. But let me take this as a screenplay oriented memory trail back.
First day, I entered the premises with a sense of pride inside as we were the seniors for the school now. I watched over the L building with our class being L’ed out at the end of it. Both the sections were side by side at the end of the ground floor beside principal’s cabin. Again I took my place in the last bench alongside my as usual bench mates. Anand, Wasim, Sanjay and me. If I missed out anyone please let me know. This time again we had Mr.Rajesh to take care of us and his brother Mr.Shantesh to take care of the other section. As first few days of schooling will be spent in deciding the leaders, Mahantesh was chosen the school leader. It was chosen by the teachers itself. Shruthi was chosen among the girls. Now left with house leaders and the class leaders, I won the election and became leader of blue house and in the same way; Anand was the leader for green house and the other two houses were lead by other section guys. But interestingly all the four houses among gals had leaders from our section only if I remember correctly. Now left with class leaders, we had election for it again and I had to compete if not Mr.Joth would take up the post which our boys didn’t want to. (Apologies for joth but you know it was the case by then). Anyway, I stood for the election as far as I know every guy voted for me or that’s what they told me, But I couldn’t win the election and this time it was Sanjoth who had to monitor us. And the magic happened because of the other side who were the majority in our class. They outnumbered us by eight gals. So I was the subordinate for Sanjoth this time. In gals, they had a common consensus on Ms.Sindhu who didn’t face much of a competition and was chosen to lead gals. I don’t remember her subordinate.
And this time, most of us went ahead and joined Dani Sir’s tutorials. Most of the boys and girls from both the sections had the same idea. I also joined the same and it was very far from my home, anyway, I had my MTB to give me a morning ride every day and some of our class guys took the tuitions in vacation itself. So they had planned to utilize the year in self learning. As far as I remember we were capable of handling the concepts ourselves but you know the centric system of universe has always influenced the poor enveloping particles. In simple words, wherever gals are there, there will be the attention all the time and I don’t know about others, but I joined the tuition for same reason and there was also this fake fear of board exams and the overhead it carried on us all the time. So we used to attend tuitions in the morning and then school till 4:30. Then a bit of this and that until we sleep. Every day in school, Mr.Mahantesh was supposed to ask anyone of four house leaders from either boys or girls to go and hoist the flag. We had to go marching all the way to the flag post and hoist it. Throughout the year I did it only once. All the time, I asked my junior to do it for me. Anand had his funny march fast all the time he was asked to do it. Gals did it with all the elegance and grace they are gifted with. (exaggeration toleration required). So after the assembly meet, we went to our class. I forgot to mention we also had leaders for special committees. I was the leader for discipline committee by then. Anyway moving on, after the assembly meet, we went into our classes and then we had to do our prayers again and this time Ms.Sindhu took care of the proceedings every day. She would ask to stand first, hold our hands, close our eyes and start the prayer. Aanya(Anand) never closed his eyes and Nirya also did the same most of the times. I did it now and then, I observed most of the boys laughing while the prayer was going on and all the gals were as usual punctual and honest in their prayers especially with such a leader leading them. (Again exagerration toleration required). So after the prayers, Classes went on. Rajesh and Mr.Mutagi took care of science. Mr.Dani handled Mathematics. Shantesh took Social science. Bheemachari sir for English. Sudhakar for Kannada and Ms.Nalini for Hindi. Best of them were Hindi and English classes which never had its limit for fun. Where gals were restless to answer questions on English grammar and we used Nizam for all the occasions in each and every period which irritated gals so much that they even complained about it. But Sirs were always on our side which kept us unabated all the time. So the year went on, with all the fun and frolic, which was influenced by this last year emotions which we had inside us. Niranjan also brought the concept of oneness among the boys which has remained till now.
Again this year, I got recognized for lot of things which includes me winning in almost every elocution competition I went to compete, I used to go on stage every alternate week. Many juniors were baffled by it and honestly this is not an exaggeration. I also represented our school in Shot-put event and was captain for school Kabaddi team again. Sadly we didn’t win in kabaddi. But I was able to represent our school in district level in shot-put and I was the only single event winner in the taluk level from our school in boy’s side which also gives me a sense of pride.
So keeping aside such competitions, Let us come back to my one sided crush stories, as I have mentioned in my previous blogs. My usual crush continued in this year also, but already the intensity started to fade off since there was a no response situation going on from 4 years. So it was almost no crush situation in between until one day something else happened. Now let us jump into our tuition premises. Me standing by the side of a tree with something going on in this complex nerve cell mechanism of so called brain. In simple words, I was involved in some thought by the side of a tree and then suddenly something happened inside due to something which will be told now. I was just looking by and then there was this gal with a silky crimson white frock and a book embraced with folded hands walking with magnificent elegance and a hint of humbleness just to add the spice for the recipe with her head slightly bent down giving the look of a typical Indian most sought decent type. Man, this feels something new and feels a lot better than the usual dormant feelings I had for my old one and this is when I had my third fall into this jargon, I mean she became my third crush over all and my second in Koppal with a couple of infatuations here and there on other beauties. So my concentration was now on this gal, no one knew about this by then, so it went on inside here with its own explanations and inferences on every single hint of involvement from the other side. Honestly it is just an illusion all one-siders develop for themselves which is obviously silly enough if you look on a neutral point of view. But one-siders have their own brilliant vivid splendor inside them going on which their crushes will never get to know. So the same vividness was going on here also.
Now let us come back to school, moving on in the year, Independence day came and Nirya and some others had an idea of donating something from our savings to the patients of govt. hospital. We went ahead and did the same. I must mention we all felt great for that. We were also pulled on the stage for the same in the assembly; we were clapped at by the entire crowd. Sadly, gals weren’t involved and they didn’t take it lightly, they blasted us for the same. They went ahead did the same for next occasion that is October 2nd, this time they also got the same treatment but not in assembly, during some event in auditorium. But Sudhakar, our kannada teacher had other thoughts which I will not elaborate. After a few days, we had science exhibition for all primary and high school students. All were to choose something to exhibit from either science, social, computers or mathematics. I honestly didn’t have any idea what to do. So my buddies Mr.Bulla and Mr.Samad had some ideas which they posed for me. It was about Heat engines which includes engines like petrol and diesel engines!!! Engines which are used to run any automobile. We went to a mechanic to get the details and a real working abstract model which could run and rotate the wheel which was stamped on a wooden board was prepared by the experienced hand (Mr.Bulla). I got the basics cleared from the mechanic and then I applied my own theory oriented approach for the same after which I understood how does petrol or diesel 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine would work. Then I delivered the same to all the visitors who came to the school. Honestly, I made my best effort to make people understand what I understood of the concept. I even had some misconceptions which were cleared by some scholars who came by. In simple words, I was completely satisfied by the exhibition of my model in the event.
So, the results came by, and sadly our team wasn’t even chosen for consolation prize. I felt humiliated that day. I got good feedback from the crowd but how come the judge didn’t get the point. And again we had this frog of the pond approach here. I was not chosen for prize because we didn’t have a hand-made model for the exhibition. I still don’t understand how he could expect a hand-made model for a petrol engine, wouldn’t we be scientists if we could do that..!Anyway those times are gone…!And then came the last picnic we were about to have in our school days. If I remember correctly we had three buses booked this time for the trip.
It was for Koodala sangama this time. It was awesome fun as always which we have cherished all the time. I wish this part to be explained by Rahul since all the intricate details are stored in his Database. But I remember Rajesh dancing everywhere without reason. We had an event in some garden where I was asked to act like chicken and I did so for which everyone laughed. All the teachers were desperate enough to impress Vijayalaxmi teacher. Even students were in the same race. Anyway I remember girls distributing while we had food and while travelling myself and my new crush exchanged some moments of fun which I still remember. So while coming back we were shuffled again and we had to sit some other buses. While coming back we also told all the teachers about our crushes and they said mine is my old crush since nobody knew the new one. So after coming back teachers were eager enough to make references to each guy and his crush in the class. I don’t know if gals knew about this. But we had our fun in class for the same. Especially when Rahul and Vinnu were referred with their counterparts. After which we mainly concentrated on studies, with the festival of slam books going side by. All the gals were courteous enough to offer us to write in their slam books. We were so childish at that time that we didn’t give our slam books to them, all were waiting for someone to start the process and nobody did and till now I regret myself for not asking them to write in my slam book and I am pretty much sure every other guy have felt the same. Anyway I had this habit of checking if I am the first one to write in the slam book and I would get very happy if it turns out to be true. And the same happened with my crush gal also. I was the first one to write in her book may be from boys and I was very much happy for that and I couldn’t stop myself from filling every corner of the page I was given to write. It feels very funny if I think of it now. She might also feel the same if she reads it.
In between we had a party decided for New Year which took place in Village restaurant which was outside our town. I remember 5 of us who sat in an Excel moped to reach the restaurant. After going there, we ordered for meals, I must tell that I was a kind of extremely conscience driven person by then. Some of my friends ordered for beer. I got bewildered for that. They didn’t inform me about this before. I don’t know why I couldn’t tolerate that. I finished my meal as soon as possible and left the place alone. Since it was outside the town I couldn’t have gone back to home without taking a lift. So I went asking for a lift on a national highway and finally some north Indians were courteous enough to offer me the same in their Indica car and then I reached home somehow. This is what my friends remember about that day. But let me tell the truth, I had told my mom that I will come home within 10:30 pm. Only after I agreed for this condition, my mom allowed me to attend the party. But it was already 10:45 pm when we got our dishes ordered. I was already afraid what would happen in home. So I left the place at 11:00 pm and when I went home, my mom was so angry on me that she quarreled with dad the entire day for allowing me to attend the party. Anyway, all the guys thought otherwise and were angry on me for many days after that party.
So days went on and our preparations started picking up pace and I myself prepared with all the dedication I could come up with and then we wrote our exams with the blessings of parents. All went well. The same reflected after the results. For the first time, Our school had 14 distinctions. Rahul the right person to be became the topper followed by Shruthi and then Niranjan. Myself and Vinay took the fourth place. Interestingly all five top scorers were from our section which I relish even now. All the teachers were very happy with the results and parents also felt the same. I got highest marks in two subjects(Science and Social Science).Rahul got a staggering 99 out of 100 in Kannada. Anyway those were the days which still live inside us. Those were the days which gave me life time friends. Those were the days which made our life worthwhile and those were the days which will be missed throughout this busy meaningless life of us. With these words I will end this blog. I feel like writing on and on but you know it has to end at some point of time. I would be very happy if you guys can shed light on the moments which I might have forgotten to mention. Other than that, Will always miss you guys…!!Thanks for reading by the way!!!
